Leave on an overnight flight.

Morning

• Arrival in Rome airport (FCO) and take a train to Termini Station in Rome.  Taxi to hotel and check in.

Afternoon:

• Explore the neighborhood and grab a bite to eat.

• St. Peter in Chains to see Michelangelo's Moses.

Morning:

• Colosseum

• Forum

• The Victor Emmanuel II National Monument, aka "The Wedding Cake"

• Largo Argentina, site of the murder of Julius Caesar

Afternoon:

• Explore the Trastevere neighborhood, including Santa Maria in Trastevere and Church of Saint Cecilia.

Morning:

• Vatican City: Visit the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica.

Afternoon

• Pantheon

• Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola at Campus Martius

• Explore Piazza Navona, including Sant'Agnese in Agone

• Church of Saint Louis of the French: Admire Caravaggio's masterpieces.

Late Afternoon

• Santa Maria Maggiore: One of Rome's four major basilicas.

• Santa Prassede: One of the oldest churches in Rome, with beautiful mosaics from the early 800's.

• Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri: Baths of Diocletian converted to a church by Michelangelo.

• Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria: Site of Bernini's famous sculpture, Saint Teresa in Ecstasy.

Morning:

• Borghese Gallery and Villa Borghese gardens.

Afternoon:

• Take a train or other transport to Florence. 

• Explore Piazza Santissima Annunziata and the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata.

• 8:30 AM: Visit Galleria dell'Accademia, site of Michelangelo's David

• See the Last Supper fresco at Sant'Apollonia

Mid-Morning:

• San Lorenzo, including the New Sacristy and Laurentian Library

• Lunch at the Central Market

Afternoon

• Explore the Historic Center

  • Duomo

  • Baptistry, including the Doors of Paradise

  • Museo dell'Opera del Duomo

  • Orsanmichele

  • Piazza della Signoria

  • Ponte Vecchio

• Bargello

• Santa Croce

• Uffizi Gallery

Afternoon - across the Arno

• Santa Trinita for Pontormo's Deposition of the Cross

• Palazzo Pitti

• Excursion to Fiesole or another nearby destination.
